Dear Friends,
Greetings from FWCC Europe and Middle East Section! We are writing to ask you and your meetings to join us in a special campaign to support participation at the Europe & Middle East Young Friends (EMEYF)-EMES All Age Gathering next summer. It will be held on the 8-15 August 2026, at Haus Altenberg, near Cologne in Germany. We hope all Friends who want to attend will be able to – we don’t want the cost to stop anyone from participating.

At the end of the last AAG, organised by EMEYF in 2016, the following was recorded in the epistle: We looked back to the past, were together in the present and turned our faces to the future in hope and determination to meet the challenges of the world today and our own lives. We hope to share with other Friends in EMES some of our experience of being time travellers …

EMES is all about bringing Friends together to build community and that’s why the AAG is so important for all of us! We need your help to make the gathering accessible to everyone who wants to come which is why we are writing to ask for your financial support.

EMES has committed to raise €8,000/£7,000 in order to set up a bursary fund to support Friends in the following categories in attending the AAG:
  • Young adults
  • Families with children
  • Friends with limited or low incomes
  • Students
  • Friends from countries in EMES with lower incomes

We are writing to ask if you are able to make a contribution to the fund (in addition to your usual contribution towards EMES work if you make one), and help us achieve our target by May 2026. We encourage you to share this letter with Friends in your meeting or Quaker community and consider holding a collection – please let us know if you would like us to try to arrange for a speaker at your meeting to help with the fundraising campaign.
