Among Friends Issue 134
Issue 134 Winter 2015 of Among Friends has been dispatched to the printers, and is available for download.
We hope you will enjoy reading about the recent seminar in Lapland to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the rebuilding of that devastated area with the help of American Friends Service Committee, the exploration of Cathars territory in France and the resonances between these Christians and Quakers, the Friendship camp on lake Balaton, progress with Quaker involvement in Ukraine, the homecoming of William Edmundson, the Church and Peace conference in Kosovo, current resources available at Woodbrooke, and a report of work funded through an Eva Koch scholarship, also at Woodbrooke, to research the impact of early career opportunities in Quaker-sponsored peace work.
Most of all, this issue contains a warm personal testimony to the grace of God that shone so brightly in the life of our beloved Friend Hadewijch Touwen, of Netherlands Yearly Meeting, taken from us much too soon. Those of us who had the immense privilege of knowing and loving her are comforted in our sorrow by her deep faith that “to God, you can surrender 100%”.
