The World Family of Friends
3 – 5 Sep 2010
This is a weekend course/conference to be held at Woodbrooke 3-5 September. It’s called The World Family of Friends and it’s organized by our Quaker World Relations Committee for Friends who want to find out more about the rest of the world.
How do Friends in Britain differ from those around the world? What are our common roots? How are our faith and practice different? How do we work together across continents to do God’s work? This weekend is for those who know little about the world family of Friends to learn about the different flavours of faith and find out how to connect with our sisters and brothers in faith around the globe. Through talks, discussions, sharing time together and with space for personal reflection, we will gain a better understanding. Nancy Irving and Marisa Johnson will both be speaking, as will Thomas Swain, from Philadelphia YM. Other Friends will offer workshops or take part in a panel discussion. Further details can be found on the Woodbrooke or you could contact Mary Waldmeyer or Jez Smith, who is also on the planning group
Friends from all meetings would be very welcome – and would be able to apply for help from the Catchpool Fund for the course fee. Please think of anyone you know who might benefit from this experience.
