Join us in Paris at the International Arms Trade Exhibition

Europe’s largest Defence & Security industry trade show “Eurosatory” takes place in Paris every two years. In protest of this event, for many years Quakers have maintained a vigil.
Simon M. (16 years old) writes: “The 2010 vigil was awesome. We came together from Germany Switzerland, France, and England. During the day of the opening of the exhibition, we stood in front of the Metro stop completely dressed in white to greet the visitors, most of whom were wearing black or were in uniform. We had prepared banners with slogans such as ‘If war is the answer, we need a new question.‘ and signs of weapons crossed through, and postcards to hand out. Quakers from Paris prepared meals for us. And there was plenty of time for sightseeing.”

Participants: 18 to 99 years old (younger participants accompanied by adults who are legal guardians)
Accommodations: 30-50 Euro triple/double/single room.
Program: Saturday, June 9, Travel by train to Paris Sunday, Sightseeing in Paris Monday, international Q-Vigil at the Eurosatory Tuesday Return home by train. Anyone wishing to stay longer is more than welcome to do so.

Komm mit nach Paris
zur internationalen Waffenmesse “Eurosatory”
In Paris findet alle zwei Jahre die größte internationale Waffenmesse „Eurosatory“ statt. Gegen diese Waffenmesse demonstrieren Quäker seit vielen Jahren mit einer Mahnwache.
Simon M. (16 Jahre) schreibt: “Die Mahnwache 2010 war echt klasse. Wir kamen aus Deutschland, Schweiz, Frankreich und England. Wir standen komplett in weiß gekleidet einen Tag vor dem U-Bahnausgang und begrüßten die in schwarzen Anzügen gekleideten und manchmal uniformierten Besucher der Messe. Banner wie „If war is the answer, we need a new question“, Schilder mit durchgestrichenen Waffen und Postkarten haben wir im Vorraus produziert und verteilt. Quäker aus Paris kochten für uns und das Sightseeing kam auch nicht zu kurz.”

Ablauf: Samstag, 9. Juni Hinfahrt mit dem Zug Sonntag: Stadtbesichtigung in Paris Montag: internationale Quäker-Mahnwache vor der Eurosatory Dienstag: Rückfahrt mit dem Zug Wer länger bleiben möchte, kann dies natürlich gerne tun!
